Choosing the right secondary education for your child is crucial for his/her academic and personal development and future success. At Halewood Centre for Learning staff are dedicated to providing the best education for all so that students reach their full academic potential. However, success is not only measured in terms of academic performance but in students’ display of personal behaviour and consideration of others. Halewood Centre for Learning provides a disciplined learning environment which is firm, fair and consistent, underpinned by mutual respect and cooperation. This gives all students the opportunity to gain confidence, feel safe and develop excellent personal and social skills.

Halewood Centre for Learning is a new Centre which has been built as part of Knowsley’s Building Schools for 21st Century programme. The Learning Centre’s strengths are many and varied. The start of secondary education is a particularly important time in a child’s life and as such the staff at Halewood work hard, in partnership with local primary schools, to make the transition from primary to secondary as smooth and pleasant as possible, guided by the belief that learning takes place more effectively when children are happy and feel secure.

The Centre has outstanding state of the art facilities which provide excellent opportunities for students and members of the local community to succeed at the highest levels in a variety of activities. It has a thriving sixth form with approximately 180 students, offering more than 20 different post-16 courses. It provides an extensive range of courses in the evenings and during the day for adults who wish to continue their education. In addition, the Centre has Specialist School Status for Performing Arts with excellent opportunities for students and members of the local community to develop their creative talents in Drama, Music, Dance and Art.

The Centre is at the heart of the Halewood community. It has strong links with a variety of sectors within the area which work alongside the Centre to support students in a number of ways. These links include partnerships with primary schools, other Learning Centres and community groups, and the excellent support received from vocational providers and local companies which give students the opportunity to take part in work place learning.

Halewood Centre for Learning provides a friendly, caring, creative and purposeful environment. Staff work very hard to achieve the best for students in partnership with parent / carers. The young people who join the Learning Centre receive warm welcome and a first class education.
